USS ZION



Armor	Reactive hull armor plating of the USS Zion was installed ship-wide after it was approved by Starfleet Command. Even though the deflector shielding systems aboard represent the latest in technology it is felt that retaining high-quality armor characteristics is still wise.



Artus	A desolate planet where rift-raft live. The planet is on the skirts of the badlands. It is home to known information broker, Rex Tull.



Auxiliary spacecraft support	There are power distribution conduits running from the engineering area into the shuttle bay to supply the shuttles with power while docked aboard the Zion. In a crisis situation, the power flow can be reversed to add power supplied from the auxiliary craft to the Zion power distribution network.



Barlok	Rura Penthe's jovial but stubborn warden. (see Rura Penthe)
	Hunter and Dane visited Barlok on 58205.16



Bensu, Shar & Kio	Brought to Qul Tuq aboard the USS Atlanta after defecting, Shar and his daughter Kio, lived on Qul Tuq until Shar was assasinated on 58205.16 by a female assasin, Vas.



Birkoff, Gordon	Member of the Jenkin's Cartel who managed to briefly take over control of the USS Zion. He is considered a dangerous genius. Also, is the twin brother of Garrett Birkoff who served as the science officer of the USS Wolverine. Their father served in section 31 of the Federation.



Communications	Communications aboard a vessel are generally one of two forms: voice or data. The ship's computer systems, along with peripheral hardware nodes, are able to handle both forms. This aspect of the vessel is comparable to the central nervous system of a life form. The vast quantity of data distribution grid hardware ensures that voice and data communications is able to move from any place aboard the vessel to another place with no hindrances. While the hardware is the same throughout the vessel, the ways they are utilized can differ and are elaborated upon in this document. When docked at a Starbase or other facility, communications generally occur through physical connections between the data distribution networks of the vessel and facility.



Cryo-stasis Chamber	storage device used to preserve living beings at cryogenic temperatures for later revival. Crysostasis is a medical procedure used to slow down biological functions in a critically injured patient



D'Kuul	Klingon K'Tinga class cruiser. Escorted the USS Zion during a prisoner transport mission to Rura Penthe. The captain of the D'Kuul, Darg, requested participation in an officer exchange program on Stardate 58205.10. Carter and Northrop traded places with Greg'garamax "Max" and Korg. While working together, Korg and Jarvis developed a very personal relationship. On the D'Kuul, Carter, who became the second security officer under Drek, found her life threatened by a group of Cardassian sympathizers whom she helped expose with the help of Zarg. The D'Kuul returned to assist the Zion's response to the Federation incursion on stardate 58205.27. During a battle two days later, Korg is slain at the hands of the Federation by a hand-canon sized weapon later discovered to be a variation of the banned Varon-T distruptor



Duvak	As a representative of the Cardassian Union, he attended the peace initiative at Qul Tuq on Stardate 58205.11. Also attending him was Ambassador Theil and Admrial Jamisson.
	Duvak and Jamison covert mission was to retreive the defectors, Dr. Sparrow and Ambassidor Shar Bensu or ensure their assassinations.



Holodeck	Simulates virutal realities using three dimensional holographic projections, highly articulated tractor beams and force fields as well as transporter based replicated objects. This includes the creation of consumable objects which have the same degree of quality as food replicators.
	On the Zion, the safety protocols can not be placed in over-ride. There is also a "privacy" mode which prevents anyone from entering the simulation with out authorization, (including pixies)



Jamisson, Admrial	As a representative he attended the peace initiative at Qul Tuq on Stardate 58205.11. Also attending him was Ambassador Theil and Gul Duvak.
	While Theil was just a pawn, Jamisson and Duvak where there to retreive the defectors, Dr. Sparrow and Ambassidor Shar Bensu or ensure their assassinations.



Jax	Daughter of information broker, Rex Tull. Jax lives on the planet Artus.
	Jax was last seen by Sam Carter on 58209.21 on a shuttle owned by the Martian Mafioso.



Jenkins Cartel	A former Federation Captain gone rouge Reginald Jenkins formed his own crime syndicate. Jenkins is responsible for the destruction of the USS Kitty Hawk.



Kritalmasiosum	A deadly substance which is lethal in small amounts. It causes the blood to thicken and solidify.
	This substance was used by Vas to assasinate Bensu on Qul Tuq on Stardate 58205.16.



Krystal	An Artificial Intellegence entity designed by Ensign Maxine Tapert. Krystal was brought on board the Zion and activated 58205.18. She is able to materialize to a solid substance in such areas where high resolution holo-emiters exist. In other areas she may appear in proximity to Ensign Tapert who wears a small holo-projector. Krysal has the same computer access as her creator, Ens. Tapert. She can access the holodeck if there are no programs running or, if a program is running in public mode. (See Holodeck)



Miranda's	Mirand's is the ship's main lounge. Both enlisted and officers are allowed. Inside Miranda's there is no rank.



Munson, Miriam	Captain of the USS Essex. A long term friend of Captain Ian Hunter. Hunter has managed to keep in touch with her even though he defected to the Maquis and she remains in the Federation.
	Hunter and Miriam last met in person on 58205.8



Pegasus, USS Pegasus	Experimental built at Qul Tuq. It was designed by Randi Dorton, construction was supervised by Harry Hoolihan. The craft also utilizes an advance AI system designed by Maxine Taperet.

Port	The left side of a ship (facing forward) In the spirit of the old vikings, the left side became "larboard"--from lade, "to load" and bord, "side" (ships were loaded from the left side). But later the English thought that larboard sounded too close to starboard so they arbitrarily changed it to "port."



Rura Penthe	A frozen planetoid deep inside Klingon space which serves as a prison colony. The planet is almost inhospitable and is protected by a force field. Warden Barlok does not permit outsiders to carry weapons or beam directly to or from the planet surface. Visitors must use the transport ships.
	The Zion transported prisoners to Rura Penthe on 58205.16



Sea Sprite	Ship in Silvio's Holodeck program which was commendeered by Birkoff, and later by Birkoff's AI program.

Sparrow Project	One of several devices Dr. Sparrow was able to smuggle out of the Daystrom Institute when he defected from the Federation Weapons program. Sparrow himself defected along with a number of other scientific dignitaries. It was the second such brain drain experienced by the Federation.
	Sparrow was on board the USS Eagle when it was attacked be a group of Federation and Cardassian ships. Sparrow went on to become the Chief Science Officer of Qul Tuq.



Starboard	The right side of a ship (Facing forward) Starboard comes from the Old English word for the paddles that Vikings used on the right side of their ships to steer: "steorbords."

Theil	As a representative of the Federation, he attended the peace initiative at Qul Tuq on Stardate 58205.11. Also attending him was Admiral Jamisson and Gul Duvak.

Tull, Rex	Rex Tull is a shadowy underworld figure. He makes his living selling information. He lives on the Planet Artus with his daughter Jax.
	Jax was last seen by Sam Carter charles Atwood and Sam Carter



USS Bezar	Commanded by Captain Dodeson, it was destroyed in combat. The young Captain forced Hunter's hand in its destruction. The Zion was defending the USS Eagle. One of five freighters seeking asylum on 58204.14



USS Kittyhawk	Carrying senior command crew of the USS Zion, it was destroyed by the Jenkin's Cartel on 58202.28. There were 13 survivors including Silvio and Dr. Dane. Also among the survivors was Johnson, who later turned out to be working for Jenkins.
