=USS Zion - Sickbay=

Silvio decided that a week was more than enough recovery time. He got up and dressed in his uniform. there was still some soreness but it was getting better each day. He needed to get out of sickbay. The boredom had been killing him. He had seen Ensign Favor on and off but now that he was getting better she did not seem to spend much time with him. When he was dressed he sat down on the biobed to wait for the doctor.

"Good morning lieutenant" She said as Teilani rushed into sickbay, "you're up early."

"Good morning doctor. I am hoping that you will clear me to leave sickbay and move into my own quarters." he said hopefully. Silvio was feeling a bit frustrated as he was not used to feeling so awkward around people and he felt really awkward around this doctor.

"Well," Teilani responded with a smile, "lets just see if I can throw you out of here." She noticed that Silvio felt uncomfortable around her. Why she did not know and it might be too soon to ask.

"Please lie back down." She continued, "so that I can check your vital signs for the last time." The scan revealed that Silvio was stable and getting stronger. "I will give you an extra booster, just to prevent a fallback. You can sit up now."

Silvio sat up as she was preparing the hypospray she picked up an empty vial. Suddenly Teilani turned: :Catch Lieutenant" and she tossed the vial at him.

The toss was a little off it's mark. The vial hit Silvio in the shoulder and bounced back out in front of silvio. Silvio reached out with is left and caught the vial on the rebound. Smiling at the doctor he handed it back to her and said "You should be more careful doc."

"Sorry if I made you jump, I just wanted to check on your hand an eye coordination and this is the best way to check it.", she gniffeled.

Silvio nodded.

"Well lieutenant, your fit enough to return to your duties. I will file my report for the captain and commander. They might be calling on you later this day. Do not forget to report to the counselor." Said the Doctor.

"Yes, I will get an appointment with her right away." said Silvio. As he walked out of sickbay he looked around for Ensign Favor. He did not see her. He thought she would be around today.

Teilani looked as Silvio was leaving, it was getting quiet at sickbay.

Silvio walked down the corridor. His stomach felt as if he had swallowed the entire matter/anti-matter conversion chamber. He felt as if he were a bird that had just been kicked out of the nest.

== Sickbay ==

Ensign Favor walked through the Sick Bay doors, and stopped cold. “Oh, great. SHE’S here,” she muttered, glancing across the room towards the woman sitting at the control panel, staring at a moniter. Long lists of numbers flew up the screen. A single strand of the Doctor’s red hair escaped the bun and trailed down her back.

Favor ran her hands over her own bald skull. “Hair. Just one of our many differences,” she thought to herself.

She began opening drawers and slamming things around with considerably more force than was necessary. “Good afternoon, Doctor,” she called out in a voice so loaded with sugary venom that it was toxic. “Don’t mind me! I’m just taking inventory of what we have here. Let me see here. We have a gross of thing-a-ma-jigs, and only one of these whatchamacallit’s left. I used most of those to fix Silvio’s crushed head.”

Teilani did not say anything, she just looked as Favor was on the rampage. It took all her strength to maintain her patients.

Favor remembered the gray sheen of Silvio’s brain, when it had peeked out from the jigsaw puzzle that had been his head, and the pride she’d felt at embroidering it back together. There hadn’t even been any scars. She’d done a good job, she knew.

A faint chemical odor drifted up. Ah, the sterilizer. Looked like the good Doctor had actually done some scut work, and loaded the tainted medical instruments into the sterilizer. “Thanks for starting the sterilizer,” she said acidly. “Hope you didn’t break a nail in the process. Hope it didn’t muss your hair.” She knew she was getting dangerously close to insubordination, but she didn’t give a damn.

Teilani still did not say anything, but she was quickly loosing it.

Favor looked around. Something was missing. What was it? Ah! Silvio! Where was he? “Doctor Dane,” she barked. “Where is my patient?”

= BR=Teilani rose from her seat, place both hands on her desk and leant forward a bit. “THIS IS QUITE ENOUGH, ENSIGN, she barked back. Teilani was furious; if her green eyes could shoot lighting Ensign Favor would have been incinerated at the spot.

Lt Silvio has been discharged from sickbay as you can see. If you had taken the liberty looking at this medical chart before coming barging in here you could have seen that he was fit enough to return to duty. You know very well that no one leaves sickbay unless they are not 100% better, Teilani continued with a hoarse voice.

True, you performed one hell of a job in keeping him alive, without your initial help he would not even have survived and I appreciate that, but as for being “YOUR” patient, there is no yours or mine in sickbay. We supposed to be working as a TEAM. As for making a decision to release some one, well that’s my responsibly and I do not have to justify my actions towards anybody but only to my commanding officer and myself.

Teilani took a deep breath, “Now Ensign, if you still have a problem with the way sickbay is run, I suggest that you lodge your complaint with the commander, and while you add it, you better ask for another assignment then cause I will have NO FURTHER USE for you.”

However, if you decide to stay here I will give you all necessary aid to improve your medical skills so that maybe one day you can have you’re own sickbay, but until then I expect that you perform your duties without any further problems. Because you know what, Teilani paused for a second, : I still have the feeling that you and I can make this the best damn sickbay in the whole universe, hell we can even learn from each other, HAVE I MADE MYSELF CLEAR!!!

So what will it be???? Ensign Favor was shellshocked. So. The Doctor wasn't quite the pushover she'd first thought. The Doctor stood with her hands curling and uncurling into hard little fists, and Ensign Favor wondered if the Doctor was ready to take a swing at her. "Bring it on, honey! Catfight in Sick Bay!" she shrieked, and laughed hysterically.

She laughed in loud screams while the Doctor stared at her. She laughed until she wept, and then she couldn't stop crying. She sank into a chair, put her face into her hands, and sobbed. The Doctor stood quietly, then grabbed a tissue and pressed it into the Ensign's hand.

"I'm so sorry," Ensign Favor said at last, hiccuping, taking ragged breaths. She blew her nose. "It's just that I've been by myself here. They had no doctor. I've been holding down the fort by myself, and I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing here. They brought in all those people from the Kittyhawk, and I was so overwhelmed. And then they brought Silvio in, and I thought he'd die, and it was no end of a surprise to me when he didn't."

She stood up and walked to the replicator. "Computer: Ice water." The cubes clinked in the glass, and she took a long sip. Her eyes were swollen and red.

Turning back towards the doctor, she lowered her eyes. "I won't be disrespectful again, Ma'am," she said quietly. "I'd like to stay here, if you'll allow that. And I'd like to see Silvio's chart, if it's all the same to you

Thats o'right, only one more thing ensign, Never underestimate me again, ok. as Favor nodded, both she and Teilani walked over to the console. Now said Teilani, let me show you what I have done after you initial care of Silvio.

Counselor's office

Zoei tidied her desk. Once her papers and writing utensils were in order, she adjusted the picture frame on her desk. Touching the glass, she made a mental note that tonight she had to write the long overdue missive to her family back home. Being busy was beginning to be a convenient excuse to avoid writing home. This is not something her mother would approve of from her.

Sliding her chair back, she rose from her work station. Crossing to the replicator, she laid her empty glass on the tray. Turning, she strode to the door. With a soft whooshing sound, the door slid open and she was in the corridor. Her stride long and confident, she walked to Miranda's.

==Mirandas==

As she walked into the popular pub, Zoei glanced around. She surveyed the room, seeing several crew members who had recently passed through her office. Eyes were quickly averted as people noticed her glance. It continually surprised her how many people were apparently afraid of her. As she watched entire tables of people close ranks, she decided her best choice would be to eat at the bar.

Holding her head up, Zoei walked across the room, smiling at Miranda as she noticed her. Hands on the bar, she had to stand on the tiptoes of one foot to slide onto the stool. There were some definite disadvantages to having short legs, she chuckled to herself.

"Hello, Miranda, how are you today?"

"Hello counselor, what can I get for you?" Miranda smiled.

"I will have a bowl of your broccoli cheese soup and a tall glass of milk, if you don't mind?" Zoei slumped slightly on the stool.

"Coming right up," said Miranda as she went to the food replicator and placed the order. She quickly returned with the soup and Milk. "Here you go." Miranda looked at the counselor and then said, "Are you ok? You look likr you have had a rough morning."

Zoei smiled softly and shook her head. "I am just fine, thank you for asking. Some days are just longer than others. I have never been able to understand that, they all have 24 hours, but they definitely don't add up the same. How are you today?"

"I am just fine," replied Miranda. "Business has been really good today."

"I suppose many people have a little extra time on their hands with the trouble with the warp engines." Zoei sipped at her soup. It was just as good as last time. "This soup is wonderful, yours is the best I have had since Mom's."

"Thanks, I brought quite a few replicator patterns with me. This is one of my favorites too," said Miranda. "

Zoei scraped her spoon across the bottom of the bowl, then finished her glass of milk. She laid the spoon and glass in the bowl and pushed them toward Miranda. "Thank you again, it hit the spot perfectly! I can hear my files calling. I had best get back to them. I hope you have a wonderful afternoon."

"You have a good afternoon as well," said Miranda as she scooped up the dished and returned placed them behind the bar. "Come back again, sometime. I have a new drink that I think you would love."

"Thank you, I will have to take you up on that," Zoei stepped away from the bar, turning toward the door. She surveyed the room, the camaraderie she could see with each group of people. It was like separate rooms in one big hall. Eyes straight forward, she strode from Miranda's.

Sam Carter had to hurry, she did not wanted to be late for the mission briefing. She straightened her uniform and tried to control her breath as she entered the briefing room.

Lt Atwood was already present. "Reporting for duty, Sir"

"Good morning Mr Carter...Name and Rank for the record", said Charles

"Lt Jg Samantha Carter, Sir", she replied back

"Good...Computer Seal Intelligence Office Voice Authorization Charles Atwood 66265 Gamma Alpha 6", answered Charles

"Intelligence Office Sealed", answered the Computer.

"Ok, Lieutenant, what I'm about to tell you can't leave this room", said Charles, "so please have a seat".

"I understand Sir", as she was sitting down, she wondered why the office was sealed, could this be a mission with no return?.

"We are going to a very important mission as important as secret. It will take us deep undercover to the heart of the federation and if we succeed we could unwrap the mystery of the destruction of the Kitty Hawk... That's all I'm allowed to tell you Sam", said Charles waiting for the Lt's answer.

" I see Sir", she replied, (finally Sam thought, we are taking some action)."I presume that we will go in civilian cloths? Do we need a cover story in case we encounter any hostile forces? When do we leave?"

"Well the cover history is that we are a couple of archaeologists going to an expedition on some planet", He said while he handled her a Padd with some info "We are leaving as soon as we arrive to Qul Tuq"

Sam studied the Padd briefly: an archaeologist and his assistant looking for some lost scrolls. "Not a strong cover but it had to do", she thought. She stood up and walked to the door, "Right Sir, I will try to look for some archaeology equipment, this will make it even more believable".

"Good... and Keep this in your mind the most stupid cover is always the one that works just try to memorize every last part of it Lt.", said Charles while he added "Couputer Disable Seal Voice Authorization Lieutenent Junior Grade Charles Atwood 66265 Alpha Omega 6"

The computer answered with a "Intelligence office seal dissabled", Charles looked at the Lt. While He said "I expect you tomorrow at 9:00 sharp to begin training for the mission... Dismissed!"

Sam Saluted Turned and left the office.

Charles started to review Carter's personal file and Opened the clasified part of it and saw that she was an expert, He smiled and went over the replicator to get himself a cup of tea...

==Riaan's Quarter's==

After a nice quiet and relaxing dinner with Teilani, Riaan headed back to her quarters to do a bit of studying. She wanted to know the ship inside out and to know everything there was about the ship including any weakness the ship may have. So far she hadn't found any, but wanted to be prepared in case there were in an emergency and the best way to handle the situation.

Riaan brought the schematics up on the ship studying each deck by deck. It was long and tedious and she wanted to make sure she missed nothing. Riaan had noticed reading the duty roaster also that certain areas lacked security and should have better security especially Armory, Biometrics/Biology lab and near Engineering. Riaan decided to write a report on her recommendation. If they were attacked and these areas weren't properly secured this was a disaster in the making.

Riaan: "Computer begin Report"

Computer: "Beginning report."

I have been studying the ship for any weaknesses and the duty roaster and I have noticed that the following should have tighter security. The following lack major security and if there was ever a breach or the ship was attacked and invaders boarded the following areas posse a serious threat to this ship. The following areas that I would recommend on tightening up security are:

Armory: Anyone can gain access here and I have been watching on my time off how lack this area is covered and how one can gain access to the Armory. I suggest we have a guard posted their 24hrs and a security barrier erected inside to detect any intruder who has no access being there and automatically have whoever entered without proper clearance be automatically beamed to the brig.

Next I suggest we tighten security around Biometrics/Biology lab if we were ever attacked who knows what is even in the lab that one can gain to cause a biological disaster onboard or otherwise.

Finally I suggest that we tighten security around Engineering this being part of our strong hold and if we lose our warp core or access to engineering anyone can take over the rest of the ship, including life supports.

These are my recommendations after studying the duty roaster and studying those areas where security is lacking badly.

Riaan: "Computer end report and save as Recommendations on tightening security."

Computer: "Report ended and saved.

Riaan: "Computer send report to Captain Ian Hunter and asked that he verifies that he has received this report."

Computer: "Report sent to Captain Ian Hunter with a verification receipt attached."

Tomorrow was another day and Riaan knew that one had to be prepared besides it getting late. Riaan walked over to her bed and pulled the covers back and crawled in.

Riaan: "Computer lights out."

Suddenly it went dark other then the stars shining through the port window and Riaan fell fast asleep.

After her dinner with Riaan, which was quit enjoyable, Teilani went back to sickbay, trying to finish the necessary reports. Although Teilani was a skilled medic she always hated the necessary paperwork, but it comes with the job.

++++ To: Commander Wright From: Dr Teilani Dane

Sickbay report All is well in sick bay, a malfunction was found in the bio stasis fields and fixed. Ensign Draconis has been treated from the common cold and released to his quarters, he may return to work tomorrow. Lt Wilkes and Petty officer Johnson still remain in critical condition, there is not much we can do for them at the moment.

Sick bay has been prepared for any large scale emergency situation, the holodeck 2 will be used for over-flow if needed. I have prepared for a new type of away mission med kit. We are low on a few supplies, all of which have been ordered and are waiting for us at the star base. All remaining equipment is at full functionality.

That is all. Dr Teilani Dane

++++

Well that’s one report finished. Teilani yawned, only a few more to go.

+++++ To: Attention Crew of the USS Zion. From: Dr Teilani Dane

I know none of you like to come to Sickbay and do your routine physicals, but I can not stress their importance! Look at it this way....If I do not have your medical records, and should you get injured in the future, it increases the difficulty of treatment as I am not sure of any pre existing conditions you may have. So for those who have not been able to visit, please do so before we reach Qul Tuq. It will only take 10 min. of your time. So until I see you next, stay healthy!

Dr Teilani Dane

+++++++++++

To Counsellor Patia Zoei From: Doctor Teilani Dane

Counsellor,

The problems between me and Ensign Favor seemed to have been resolved. As you explained, Ensign Favor was afraid that I would be taken over sickbay. She was overwhelmed by the number of injured crewmembers during the rescue mission of the Kitty hawk, especially because there was no doctor on board at the time. She needed to have reassurance that her actions were correct. I offered her to stay in sickbay and will teach her in advance medical skills. We will just have to see how it goes.

Dr Teilani Dane ++++++++++++

After she had posted her reports, Teilani checked her schedule to see if she had time for some R&R at the holodeck. She managed to find a spot and reserved the necessary holodeck time. With a last glance at her 2 remaining patients, and some last orders for the night nurse, she left sickbay and returned to her quarters.
