From Conception to Birth, Krystal was a long-time passion of Maxine Tapert. The reality of her dream was even better, and much more than she'd expected. The AI program did all she'd designed it to do, learning at an accelerated rate and soaking up information like a sponge.

Krystal started as a companion, a holographic projection of a whimsical pixie, perfect in every detail. Maxine had read what she could on the mystical creatures and programmed the hologram with the same personality traits. But soon she became much more as Maxine continued to add to and upgrade her programming. Before long she was a functioning tool that Max used in her work every bit as much as she used a tricorder or PADD.

Krystal is a holographic Avatar of Maxine's AI program. She was brought on board the Zion and activated 58205.18. She is able to materialize to a solid substance in such areas where high resolution holo-emiters exist. In other areas she may appear in proximity to Ensign Tapert who wears a small holo-projector.
Krysal has the same computer access as her creator, Ens. Tapert. She can access the holodeck if there are no programs running or, if a program is running in public mode.
