Childhood (birth to Adult): Born to two career Star fleet officers, Simon spent much of his childhood in star fleet science research facilities because of the circumstances of his conception. While on patrol near the Huranda III, Nikita was apparently beamed off her station by a unknown ship while serving on USS Exeter and materialized later. Initial bio scans upon returning failed to indicate the presence of an embryo. After birth subsequent scans revealed unusual DNA patterns.
Early Education

Zen excelled in Science, not surprising considering his father and mother worked in the Science Lab and were among the best in their field. Even though he had a lot of animosity toward them, he learned everything his father and mother could teach him including astrophysics, which was one of his harder topics to learn and understand. He hated what his parents were and one day he hoped to rebel and not follow in his parent's footsteps, but after several persuasions he reluctantly became intrigued and realized there was more to meet then what the eye could see. Each time he had to dissect something he thought of the alien that had created him and took out his revenge that way which was what drove him to pursue the field of Science in order to prevent this from ever happening again to anyone else. Zen had spent 4 years on Ba'ku working with the Science Department learning many different scientific disciplines. His mentor P'Orja was a great teacher and mentor and Zen had a lot of respect more than he did for his parents or those behind his birth, which had gone terribly wrong. One day P'Orja made arrangements for Zen to join the USS Caliber with their being a junior position open within the Science Department. Zen trusted P'Orja and knew he would not steer him wrong.

After a painful good bye Zen promised he would return one day to Ba'ku. Zen spent three years onboard the USS Caliber continuing his studies and learning the interesting facts of Science, molecules, human biology and what now. He felt that he had learned everything he could and asked his Captain if he felt that he was ready to join the Academy to pursue his career and hopefully one day would become a better Scientist then his parents could ever dream. His Captain agreed with Zen and stated they had to head that way anyways to pick up supplies. Two weeks later the USS Caliber docked at the Academy and again with a painful good bye he joined the Academy to begin his career as a Science Officer better than anyone would dream under the circumstances surrounding his birth and his early childhood experiences.

Zen was hoping that at the same time he was pursuing his career that he could come to understand what the modifications to his DNA meant.

Starfleet Career

Star Fleet Academy: San Fransisco Class of 2373

Bajor Maquis Academy: 2382-2383

After leaving Starfleet Academy, Zen was transferred to a Klingon planet where he served with a scientific liaison for 4 years. Later Zen was transferred to the USS Saratoga where he served under the command of Benjamin Sisko. During his tenure there, Zen fulfilled several roles in various scientific departments. While severing as Lt. The Saratoga became involved in an incident, which could have led to serious consequences for the inhabitants of Berazan. The Saratoga, responding to a distress call from the planet discovered by an unidentified alien race and had managed to maintain an unstable wormhole opening by sending highly polarized tachyon particles through the rift. This was causing damage to the atmosphere of Berazan. Previous efforts to close the wormhole with conventional technology had failed. Zen closed the wormhole by creating a custom photon torpedo warhead using trilithium resin and a harmonic shield generator equipped in such a way that the detonation permanently closed the remote side of the wormhole. This action won him several decorations and helped his promotion to Lt. Commander.

Zen was onboard the Saratoga when it engaged the Maquis rebellion in 2381. During this battle Zen's parents were KIA when the USS Magellen. Zen formally protested the actions which landed him in the brig. Due to the heavy damage the Saratoga sustained, he was pulled from the brig and ordered to assist with repairs. During this time, Zen plotted with several other crew mates to get off of the Saratoga. Their plot was well thought out. The recent battle had required that several IPS Fusion reactors be replaced. As planned the engineer assigned different crews the tasks of replacing all of the IPS Fusion generators at the same time. Naturally taking all the IPS systems offline didn't go unnoticed. The Ops and the XO immediately asked for an explanation and threatened later disciplinary action. Since they were currently traveling at warp speeds , the matter was overlooked in error.

With a little work re-routing sensor functions they were able to take control of a shuttle and leave the ship. For added insurance, the renegades initiated a warp core ejection prior to leaving the ship.

Zen and the others surrendered to the Maquis and requested asylum.

Zen spent 1 year at the Maquis academy for reorientation to Maquis protocols.

Interests Music, warp theory, astrometrics, alien religious beliefs.
Personality Profile Simon is a normally a pensive melancholy person, he always looks like he is far away in deep thought sometimes to a fault. He usually respects authority but in the past has had been written up for insubordination in matters which he believed science or ethics should over-ride Starfleet regulations. Especially towards the end of his Starfleet career. He often comes across as aloof to those who do not know him. He has a mature disposition.
Special Notes: Simon has displayed, on occasion certain empathic capabilities similar to betazeds but also other certain abilities that one might consider psychic. Unfortunately Simon is not in control of these abilities and cannot produce these effects on prompt, which can be related to the unknown genetic attributes found in his DNA.

Likes: Spending vast amounts of time on the holodeck. Writing holonovels, certain foods and playing 21st century music and spending time absorbing alien cultures. Enjoys the company of females. Enjoys running Sims for no reason, and playing 3-d chess.

Dislikes: Simon is a picky eater and doesn't always fair well when needing to consume alien foods, including klingon food, especially in ceremonial situations. Don't take him to an alien buffet!!

Strengths: Intelligent, manual dexterity. Has strong analytical abilities enabling him to delve into most problems and find solutions. Despite being somewhat aloof, he is a charismatic person and is well received by people who get to know him.

Weaknesses: Simon has some neurological issues, which manifest themselves as severe headaches. These do not happen often or in correlation with other incidents (such as burst of empathic abilities) Most of the time the pain runs it course, on a couple of occasions in his life, it has left him comatose for up 3 days. Sometimes Simon will become inattentive of his duties and pursue personal matters. Simon is also something of a xenophile. He also can't pass up romulan ale.

Skills:

Jack-of-all-trades. In a bind he can fill nearly any position on the ship. Because of his superior dexterity, he can perform engineering tasks and repairs and is a good fighter pilot as well as an accomplished musician. He has had a couple of docking mishaps with larger class vessels.

He spent four years majoring in Science and in his 4th year had decided to minor in Archaeology & Anthropology. He spent two more years afterwards at the academy learning all about Operations and Command.

Served as Scientific Liaison at Khitomer for 4 years, then aboard the USS Saratoga for 5 years before defecting to the Maquis. After being recruited for duty, he was ordered to be transferred to USS Atlanta.
