Temporary Amnesia "

Together with the EMH Teilani was working frantically to get Riaan back to the living again.

"I don't understand Teilani sighed, she won't wake up, why."

"You asking me Doctor Dane," The EMH snarled, "I don't know I'm not a telepath."

Teilani rolled her eyes and studied at the irregular brain patterns, and then slowly thanks to the meds, it seemed to be going fine. The EMH handed her a hypo with tri-ox and pardextrine.

Pardextrine was recently a new drug Teilani had received from the supply depot. Basically used for head injuries. She pressed the hypo towards Riaans neck and adjusted the medical output readings.

Riaan saw herself lying on the bio bed it was weird how could this be. Slowly Riaan began to come through she felt like she had died and was brought back to life, once again. Riaan kept clutching and clawing trying to drag herself out from the beyond, as she lay in limbo between two worlds. She used all her strength that she could muster to pull herself out, as she struggled slowly to the top of the void.

"Ensign, Teilani said. "Open your eyes. Come one open your eyes."

Slowly Riaan was getting closer to the top of the void where she lay in limbo, but she wasn't sure for how long. She slowly began to open her eyes, her head felt as if it was about to explode and her eyes were about to pop out of her skull.

"Computer, dim the lights by 5%. Immediately the surrounding light was lowered so Riaan needed not to blink.

"Stay down," Teilani ordered, "you have had a bad accident in the Cargo Bay, don't you remember?"

Riaan looked at Teilani with a blank look she had no clue what happened or where she was or who this person was that was asking her, "don't you remember."

"Can you tell me what day it is?"

Not knowing Riaan never said a word, she was lost and confused. She had no clue what this person was even talking about.

"Do you know your name? ", Teilani asked.

Again Riaan never said a word she didn't even know her own name.

Teilani looked the EMH. "Are you thinking what I am thinking, she asked. He nodded, "temporary amnesia."

Riaan continued looking at the two puzzled trying to understand what was going on hoping for some sort of explanation, anything. Teilani sat herself down on the bio bed. She looked calm and with a relaxing voice she started to explain. "Your name is Ensign Riaan. You are onboard the USS Zion. While you were working in the Cargo bay some crates tumbled and you were hit by one of them." "Do you understand? This caused a small swelling of your brain that is why you can not remember." Teilani took Riaan's hands in her's. "Relax, everything is going to be fine. Your memory will return in maybe a few hours maybe a day. It is not permanent" "You have to remain here for a while then I can monitor how you are doing o.k. You don't have to worry everything will be fine." "Who are you? Am I supposed to know you?, Riaan looked puzzled at Teilani. "Yes you know me. My name is Teilani Dane. I'm the ships physician." "How did I meet you, were we friends or what", asked Riaan in a pleading yet petrified tone in her voice not sure of anything. "We met a few months ago here on the Zion. You are the ships operations officer." Teilani replied. My head it feels like it is about to explode and my eyes feel like they are going to pop out of my skull. "I know Teilani said. That is an effect of the injury. It will pass, just give it time. Don't force yourself to remember." "Do I have any family, children or anything, she said, again not sure of herself. Riaan never knew what to think and felt so empty inside not knowing who she was or how she even came onboard the USS Zion. "Don't ask too much. I will give you something to sleep. Lay back down and close your eyes. You are save here." Teilani took a hypo from the tray and filled it with a mild sedative and a sleeping cocktail.
