Commander Wright strode down the hallway on Deck 8. In his hand he carried a work bag. He had been ordered to surrender his medical equipment to the Zion's CMO by the medical review board. Wright had put it off and so far Doctor Dane had not come looking for it. He decided it was better to just get it over with.
Wright paused a moment before entering sickbay; he fully expected that after a complete review that his medical privileges would be reinstated, but that did not stop him from feeling a bit sad at the prospect of turning over his medical stuff.
Wright took a deep breath and entered sickbay. As the doors swished closed behind him he flashed the nurse a smile and continued on his way to Dane's office.
Hearing some noise Lani looked up. "Commander, this is a surprise." she said gently. "How may I help you?" she asked gesturing at Wright to come in.
"Just taking care of some unfinished business," said Wright.
"Why don't you take a seat Sir." she said pushing her paperwork to the side.
Wright walked in gently set his bag on her desk and then sat down.
"Wanna tell me about it?" Lani asked, pointing at the bag.
Wright shrugged, "There is not much to say. I'm supposed to turn it over to you until Dr. Crusher's investigation is complete."
Lani nodded. "I read a copy of the report."
Wright nodded, and handed the case over to Dane.
"Even I have sources Sir." she said encouragingly, setting the bag next down to her desk "However, the medicine you used, do you still have a sample? If you allow me I would like to run some tests on it. See if the review board was right or not."
Wright shook his head. "I do not have a sample, besides if there was something wrong with the medicine they would have me in the brig right now."
"That's true. I just don't see what the big fuss is about it. Lots of people were saved by it."
"It's just a political game for Simmons. He is trying to make a name for himself."
"Simmons... older man, grayish hair?" she asked.
Wright nodded, "I served with him on the USS Comfort."
"He is everybody's nightmare. If need be he will pull everything out of the closest to ... Let's just say he adores publicity.
"That he does," Wright agreed. "Well, I'm confident that I'll be back to collect my bag," said Wright gesturing toward it. "Please keep it safe for me. There are some sentimental things in there that mean a lot to me."
"No problem Commander, I will put it behind lock and key." Teilani replied. "Nobody will touch it besides myself and you when you come and collect it."
Wright nodded, "Thanks!"
"Commander, I was wondering would you perhaps care to join me for lunch?"
"Sure," replied Wright. "I have a noon meeting so how about at 1330 hours?"
"That will be fine." Teilani said and stood up. "Now if you will excuse me, I have to put a certain bag behind lock and key."
Wright simply nodded his head and left her office.
