Alyssa's com badge chirped, "This is Lt. Norton, we have a ship to ship message for you. Encoded from the Klingon vessel Da'Brak.
Northrop hadn't really expected to ever hear back from the Klingons. Most of the time they simply did...and didn't really enjoy having their methods questioned...even gently. "Very good...patch it through to my office, Mr. Norton."
"Patching it through now."
"Thank you...Northrop out." The reports she'd been perusing on the loss of the USS Wolverine shrank down into a smaller portion of the holo-screen and were replaced by the symbol of the Maquis.....then the image changed to that of an imposing Klingon Warrior....who simply launched into the conversation.
"I am Kradek. I understand you wish information."
"Yes..thank you Kradek. I do with information. Recently your ship transferred a prisoner to the USS Zion....a man believed to be one Gordon Birkoff. We weren't provided with any of the details of his capture and I was wondering if perhaps you might fill me in?"
Kradek grunted slightly, then nodded. "We found the prisoner adrift on a freighter of unknown origin. He admitted to being the Birkoff. You are pleased with his capture, yes?"
"Yes of course." It wouldn't do to just come out and say that they thought that perhaps the Klingons has captured the incorrect Birkoff. After all..how could they know that the pe'taQ had a twin brother? She hadn't even known before about a hour ago. "I simply wanted to have the information in case my superiors asked me about it. Thank you for your assistance, Kradek. Perhaps we will be able to repay the courtesy sometime in the near future."
The Klingon laughed, "Excellent!" And then added, "He also had a tricorder, but it seems to have been heavily damaged in the capture. A phaser too."
"Would it be possible for those items to get sent over here? It might be possible to recover some of the data that was on the tricorder," Alyssa asked....hoping the Klingon wouldn't mind the request. He seemed to be a in a good mood....and whatever they could get off that tricorder could very well clear up a few issues.
Kradek smiled nervously, "I will see what we can do. IKS Da'Brak out!"
The image faded away.
