“Prescription: Chicken soup”

==Sickbay==

Melissa rested comfortably in sickbay. Her body still ached, but Compared to how she felt the previous night she was not going to complain. She tried to remember what had happened after the party ended but it was all lost in a foggy haze.

Teilani noticed that Melissa was moving and she walked over. " Hello Ms Jarvis, welcome back to the land of the living."

Melissa looked at the doctor, "Hello Doc."

“How do you feel?"

"Like I have been trampled by a herd of elephants," she said with a small hint of a smile on her face. "How are you Doc?"

“Surviving," Teilani answered with a grin. “Can you try to sit up?"

Melissa started to sit up and immediately began to cough.

" Easy....not to fast. Let me check your wound."

"What happened to me," she asked, "The last thing I can remember was having trouble breathing and trying to get a hold of you."

Teilani carefully undid the dressing and checked her own handywork. "Well you got hold of me Ms Jarvis, and I found you unconscious on the floor. What were you thinking? You are not indestructible you know.”

"I have never claimed to be indestructible doctor," she said settling back down on her bed.

Teilani finished her examination. “You can relax Ms Jarvis, it will only leave a small scar."

"Another one to add to my collection," she said.

"At least you have a good story to tell with this one." Teilani added.

"Yeah, I will have to work on remembering all of it," she said.

"You have no recollection of how you got hurt?" Teilani asked.

"I remember most of it," she said, "It is a bit foggy. Blood Wine can do that to you."

"Well you did fight the wicked witch of the west," Teilani explained, "can your remember that?"

"I do remember that," said Melissa, "But I do not recall suffering a life threatening injury during the battle."

"That’s understandable," Teilani continued. "Your mind was so focused on the fight that your body shut down its pain receptors. Meaning that you could have sustained much more cuts and bruises. You wouldn’t even have noticed it."

"I have heard of that sort of thing," she said, "I kind of went crazy then?"

"Well let’s just say that you were very focused. So your body started to protect itself so it is able to escape a battle or a fight if you want. Only afterwards when you come back into a normal situation then you get into trouble."

"I see," she said, "I bet the blood wine didn't help the situation either."

"No it didn’t. Despite the fact it makes you very drunk it also numbs the senses, it acts as some sort of a painkiller. Therefore you did not notice you were injured.”

"Thank you for being there for me," said Melissa.

Teilani smiled and brushed the hair from Melissa's face. "Your going to be fine, lay back down and go to sleep. Next time you wake up I will bring you some chicken soup." Teilani administered some medications and covered Melissa with a blanket.

"Uh-huh," she said starting to feel drowsy. The doc apparently had better medication than blood wine. Soon Melissa was back to sleep.

Watching Melissa go back to sleep, Teilani smiled, lowered the lights and went back to her office.
